Private label and branded canned, tray and pouch recipes for dogs and cats — made in Northern Ireland, shipped worldwide.
Est. 1972 · Moy, N. Ireland Mackle Petfoods was founded by the Mackle family in 1972 in the village of Moy, County Tyrone. More than five decades later the business is still family owned and still built on the same principle: make pet food we would happily feed our own dogs and cats.
Today we are one of Ireland and the UK’s most established wet pet food producers, combining recipe development, high-volume thermal processing, canning, tray sealing and multipacking under one roof. That vertical control is what allows grocery retailers, importers and specialist distributors to rely on us for consistent quality, transparent traceability and dependable lead times.
Step inside the factory floor. Our film follows a recipe from raw material delivery through cooking, filling and retort sterilisation to the finished, labelled multipack ready for container loading.
For buyers evaluating a new wet pet food partner, this is the practical detail that matters: how product is cooked, how seams are verified, how shelf life is validated and how a production plan is protected when demand spikes.
From single-serve trays to 1.2kg family cans, our formats and textures are engineered around your shelf position, price architecture and target consumer.

The questions international buyers ask us most often before starting a private label or branded supply programme.
Minimum order quantities are agreed per format and recipe. As a full-scale wet pet food manufacturer we work in complete production runs measured in pallets and containers, which keeps unit costs competitive for retailers and distributors buying canned, tray or pouch product. We will confirm an indicative MOQ as soon as format, recipe complexity and packaging specification are defined.
Our Northern Ireland facilities produce canned dog food and cat food, heat-sealed foil trays, chunk-in-jelly and chunk-in-gravy recipes, loaf and pâté textures, grain-free and natural formulations, plus mixed-variety multipacks for retail shelf. Formats range from single-serve portions through to large family cans.
A typical programme runs 12–20 weeks from approved brief to first commercial production. That covers recipe development and trials, nutritional sign-off against FEDIAF guidelines, packaging and artwork compliance, shelf-life validation and a factory trial run. Existing recipes with new labelling can move considerably faster.
Yes. We supply grocery retailers, importers and specialist pet distributors across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and beyond. Our commercial team handles export documentation, health certification, label localisation and container planning so product clears customs without delay.
Every batch is traced from raw material intake through cooking, retort sterilisation, seam integrity verification and finished-goods release. Our quality team operates HACCP-based controls with in-house laboratory testing and independent third-party audits, and all recipes are formulated to meet FEDIAF nutritional guidelines for the relevant life stage.
We can. Send us the benchmark specification or sample and our technologists will build a matched or improved formulation, then review palatability, texture, appearance and cost-in-use with you before validation. This is one of the fastest routes to a credible own-brand launch.
Tell our commercial team about your market, format and volume ambition — we will come back with a practical route to shelf.
